More sharks

Deep Sea Fishing

Yes, what you are seeing is two teens who simultaneously caught two
sharks! So far we have caught at least 8 sharks as well as a few
Oyster Toad Fish, Croakers, and Pins. This is awesome!

Dolphin watching?

No dolphins yet. Still having fun though.

A true adventure

We knew it was too good to be true. The trip was going just too
perfect. And at 4:30 am we were blessed with an incredible downpour.

We were able to get everyone inside to keep out of the storm so
everyone was completely safe the whole time. The tents though are not
as waterproof as we are. The staff went back into the rain to salvage
the luggage. Everything was saved, but a lot of bags did get wet.

The situation was not ideal, but we will always have an incredible
story to share. Clothes and bags dry, as do teens, but the story of
surviving the downpour will live forever.

We are on our way to see some dolphins now. More updates later.

Weather Update for SurYivor Ocean

Hello parents,

From here on out, we will be updating through the web site http://morrisonteens.blogspot.com. This message can also be found there.

I wanted to write and let you know about the weather that you may be hearing about on the news – Tropical Storm Christobal. I have contacted our friends at YMCA Camp Seagull-Seafarer to get an update directly from them as they are located 6.3 miles away from Camp Caroline (which is actually the driving distance, the camps sit adjacent and are less than 3 miles from each other). In speaking with their Waterfront Director, the storm has passed and they have proceeded with their normal summer camp schedule. I have copied their Weather Update from their web-site http://www.seagull-seafarer.org/ below. Please feel free to look at their web site for continuous updates.

From YMCA Camp Seagull/Seafarer:

As of 11:00 a.m., Sunday, July 20, our area is under a Tropical Storm Warning. The center of the Tropical Storm Christobal is passing by the coast of North Carolina approximately 75 miles from our location. At this time, we are continuing with our regularly scheduled activities. We have experienced a few light passing showers with periods of sunshine. Winds are between 10-15 mph from our East. We expect that we may experience additional scattered showers throughout the remainder of the day. We are monitoring the weather closely as always and have alternate activity plans ready if we need to amend our schedule. Continue to check our website for updates throughout the day.

So, we should be good to go by the time we arrive at Camp Caroline Monday evening. I have discussed Emergency Procedures with YMCA Camp Seagull-Seafarer (which is part of the Raleigh YMCA Association), and we will be utilizing their procedures if the weather turns bad. Thanks, and please remember to check the web site throughout the week. We’ll see you all bright and early Monday morning.
