NAYDO Volunteer Opportunity: Hotel & Conference Greeters

Hey Gang.  Check out the email below.  The conference that we were making the goody bags for is coming up and they are looking for engaging and helpful volunteers to greet participants to workshops and hotels.  It is going to be a really cool week of events.  If you are interested in volunteering for any of the shifts below, email Curtis and Brooke at morrisonvolunteers@ymcahcharlotte.org

 

We will not have a meeting on Monday of this week due to Spring Break but we are in need of volunteers for the Kids HQ every day from 8-1 or 4-8.  If you can volunteer in any of those shifts, let me know.

Hello Everyone,

 

I have an exciting opportunity for you to be an ambassador for the YMCA of Greater Charlotte as we welcome over 1,000 YMCA staff and volunteers from across North American to the NAYDO (North American YMCA Development Organization) Conference being hosted in Charlotte. You will be the first YMCA person they see when they arrive at one of the hotels or the conference in Charlotte. This is a great opportunity for you to show southern hospitality and demonstrate why the YMCA of Greater Charlotte is different from other YMCA’s.

 

What are we looking for?  Greeters for various shifts to welcome conference attendees as they arrive at the hotels and main conference site at the Westin Hotel. We will offer them information on Charlotte and help get them directions as needed.

NO LEADERS MEETING

We have decided to cancel tonight’s Leaders Meeting since a lot of you have mid terms tomorrow.  We were planning to have a social meeting but in light of AK’s exam schedule, we will push that off to another week.

 

REMEMBER….Next Monday’s meeting we are going to the metro office to help with preparation for the National NADO YMCA conference coming to Charlotte.

 

We will need to meet at the Y at 5pm.  Be sure to bring the attached permission slip with you.  If you gave me one for the Rally to Atlanta, I already have it but I will need one from everyone else for permission to ride on the bus.

 

We will be eating dinner there so no need to eat before you come.  Have a great week.  Thank all of you that helped at MSM this Saturday.  It was a great one.  Good Job.

Open Mic Night?

Are any of you interested in participating in Open Mic Night tomorrow?  We will start at 7 and I need a few more people to schedule some time slots.  If you play guitar, read poetry, tell jokes (clean), sing, or have some other talent worth sharing with the world, I would love to have you come out.  It will be real informal and low key so no pressure but it is a great experience.  Tell your friends to call me if they want a time slot

Volunteers for Tomorrow Night

Parent’s Night Out is tomorrow night from 6-9:30.  Being Valentines Day weekend, a lot of families are taking advantage of this program.  We are going to need all of the help we can get to make sure that the kids have a great time and the night goes smoothly.

 

Please come prepared to work hard and make the program the best possible experience for each kid that joins us.  Volunteers need to wear volunteer shirts and report to Deanna in the teen center at 5:30.  Thanks for your help!

A Few Reminders

Hey gang!

 

I forgot to mention a couple things to everyone before people started leaving:

 

  • Remember that Blue Ridge and Rally stuff is due to me no later than next Monday.  The sooner I get it the better so we can get it all turned in on time so you can drop it off at the Y to me anytime before that.
  • If any of your parents have questions about Blue Ridge or the Rally before you can register, remind them that I am holding a parent informational meeting tomorrow at 6pm in the teen center.  I will be available for questions or to clarify anything your parents may want to know.
  • Don't forget to sign up for hours….not many people signed up on the sheets today.  Remember that it is your responsibility to get your hours done.  Don't wait until the last minute.  I have the sheets in my office if you want to add any shifts.
  • You are Awesome!   I am glad to have the chance to work with and get to know all of you.

 

In case any of you may be interested, we are starting a highschool and middle school sign language class at the Y tomorrow night.  We still have space available so if you want to sign up, you can tomorrow.  It will meet from 6-7 on Tuesdays and costs $150 for members.  It should be a great class if anyone is interested.

Volunteer Opportunities

I am sorry that we were not able to have a meeting yesterday.  I miss you all already!

 

I just wanted to send out a couple reminders and some opportunities for you to pick up some hours:

 

  • Thursday Night at Ballantyne Elementary we need about 10 volunteers from 6-8:30.  We need help with set up and breakdown and playing with kids during various activities (art, gymnastics, martial arts, dance, games, etc)  First come First Serve.
  • Saturday Night at the Y we are holding our annual Parent/Child Dinner Dance.  Set up will be from 5-7, the event from 7-9, and break down 9-done.  Volunteers will be ushering guests, serving dinner, interacting with families, and keeping it clean and fun for all involved.
  • PNO and overnight lock in on Feb 13th.  We will have two shifts for volunteers, one from 5:45-9:30 and another from 9:30-11:30 for the kids that are spending the night. 
  • I am working on setting up a make up training for you to learn to volunteer on the fitness floor.  I will get that date to you on Monday so those hours will be available to everyone. 

 

I just want to get those on your calendar.  Please let me know immediately if you are available for Thursday or this Saturday.  We can talk through the rest on Monday at our meeting.  Call or text me if you can come on Thursday.  I need to know the number as soon as possible   704 614-0094.

 

Don't forget to bring BRLS and rally registration and deposits to me sooner than later.  See you all Monday!

Blue Ridge is HERE!!

Leaders,

 

Here is the information for Blue Ridge Leaders School.  I can not wait to take our club to the mountain in June.  This is very very time sensitive so if you are at all interested in joining us for the 2010 BRLS, please complete the attached enrollment form, print it out, have it signed, and return it to me with a check for the $100 deposit as soon as possible.  We will not be able to collect any more forms after February 15th.

 

Please read the first attachment, complete the second and refer to the third if you have detailed questions about BRLS or for the Class and Clinic descriptions.

 

As always, if you have any questions, feel free to drop by the Y or give me a call.

 

On another note, is anyone interested in volunteering for a school function at Ballantyne Elementary next Thursday?  I need about 10 volunteers to help play games and activities with kids from 6-8:30 on Thursday.  First come first serve.
