This is my second e-mail of the day about raising money for the 5K race, so I am very serious about this money we need to raise. I have talked to several Leaders’ today who said that no one wants to donate money for this cause. That simply is not a valid excuse. People will donate money if you ask the right way. For example:
This past Saturday, volunteers asked for donations at our Soccer games throughout the day. With only several people asking, they raised $17,000. Yes, they raised this much money simply by asking people to donate. We need to raise $3,000 and runners get free food, a t-shirt, prizes and the chance to spend the day running in a great event – all for just $10 or $20.
This is non-negotiable. We need to raise $3,000, which gets us just a little more than half way to our $5,000 goal for the year. We can do this, we need to do this. Please prove to me that you are a Leader, and you will do everything in your means to raise your share. Even if you do not hit your goal, please show me that you tried your best. As an example, Meg and Annie handed out letters to people with self-addressed envelopes to sign up for the race. This is very creative and worked. Please show me that you care about our club, and that we can raise $3,000. If Sports could raise $17,000 in one afternoon, we surely can raise 18% of this amount – and we’ve had nearly two months to do so. Thanks.
